Knife Making - Forging a Small Feather Pattern Damascus Bowie Knife

Very happy with how this knife turned out. I had some trouble with the coffee darkening on the guard so I had to redo it 4-5 times. Better luck next time. trying some other instant coffee brands to see if it does anything. More Damascus stuff to come! Available at makencreate.net My take on the classic ‘‘Blacksmiths knife’’ They're a lot of fun to forge and recycling steel to make something new is always very satisfying. Thanks for watching! where can I buy a knife like that?????
I need this how much
Wood used?
Hello sir, I am interested in purchasing a knife like the one I made in this video, and I want to buy one. How much does it cost? Greetings.
Hi there, send me an email to makencreate@outlook.dk. then we can discuss further about price etc.
how many hours of hammering did it take to get the profile?
I swear I thought that dude was gonna lose a digit on the second cut!
I wonder why you didn't add temper (fine sand, grog from crushed ceramics etc.) to the clay. It prevents shrinkage during drying process which prevents cracking.
I emailed you about this knife a couple years ago and I was ready to buy it but you were out of the country... Just watched the video again... Such a beautiful knife with the right geometry for cutting and chopping...
Two suggestions: first, temper your clay with either sand or grog (ground up, fired ceramic from earlier, unsuccessful firings) to prevent cracks and spalling, and, second, DO NOT cool your fired pottery with water; let it stay in the ashes of the fire overnight and cool down much more slowly to avoid thermal shock. If you want to seal the pottery to prevent it "weeping" fluids, consider melting beeswax or pine pitch and thoroughly coating the interior of the vessel after firing (best done while the ceramic is still noticeably warm from firing). Great first attempts, though (mine all exploded while firing)!
Love that handle. Very well done.
That looks more like Gandalf's pipe :D
I think it would be good to make a sharpening choil on the knifes ... more sharpening friendly for those which do not have a belt grinder ..;)
Make me one with the roster Lion on it
Wow and to think, I used nothing but a knife and a sharp pointed piece of wire to make my pipes
"Old Tobey... Finest weed in the South Farthing."
A litle bit work on handle😊
Only thing I’d change safety wise would be poor tongs and wearing long sleeves with rotary tools
I may be dumb but what kind of metal is that? Like where did you get it?
I just purchased a used Lockerbie Kickwheel. It’s sitting under a canvas awning in my backyard. Wish I could be inside but its great having my own. How do you know what dirt is clay? I always want to do EVERYTHING myself and that was enlightening. Thank you ☺️
Wonderful craftsman turning out works of art.👍✌️⚒️
Beautiful work!
When I saw this video a little over a year ago from today (May 23, 2024), it piqued my curiosity regarding woodcarving generally and pipe making more specifically. After months of fiddling around with smaller projects uaing cheaper wood, I have ordered my first blocks of briar last night! I am very excited to start honing this new skill, hopefully for years to come. Thank you for inspiring me!
Best of luck on your journey mate :)
Imagining a hobbit, being hobbit sized, ripping that bowl size dude he’d be the first middle-earthing in space!!
Cost keya hai? Kaha milega?
Now i want to rewatch the Fellowship and smoke a pipe... Damn, I love Cigars but had never tried a pipe... I will need to get a pipe.
This was the coolest thing I've ever watched in UA-cam. Inspiring! Im serious. Awesome.
Если есть горн и навыки кузнечного ремесла, то есть смысл оттянуть лезвие, или нарастить сваркой. Там явно уже несколько сантиметров сточено....А так хороший колун получился. Лайк.
Tell us a tale then eh?
I always used boot polish to stain my wood especially for pipes, wands, wooden pens etc.. it gives it a nice antique look and protects the wood from any water penetration
I am attempting to create a scythe but out of a piece of rebar, I bender the edge a bit but not enough so it will be a bit short
How much
great work. what was the process you did for finishing the blade at the end? you boiled some liquid?
Vinegar!
@@MakeNCreate cheers man, really added a lot to the look

Ha quedado super bonito. Supongo que el cuerno es de toro, que raza es? Me gustaria hacer uno. Yo tengo una pero esta realizado con una caracola de mar
nice shape of the blade and handle
Is it called Mora? In Russia, such knives were made, under the name of kitchen knives, in the 30-80s of the last century, at various factories. I have 2 of these in my collection, with different marks.
Mora knives here in Scandinavia are swedish. I think the founder was named Erik frost.
How much refractory did you use fir for the complete build 🤔
Cant remember. I'd say just buy plenty. You'll need for future repairs anyway.
I've made about 3 million of there in my day😂
Wonderful video thank you!
A mujhe chaheye bechoge bara

Good looking knife, job well done

Beautiful work sir. And for the older guys watching who have a hard time with these super sped up videos, switching playback to .5 makes a world of difference
Is that tightbond 2 your using?
Would it actually be functional?
